You’ve probably heard of CBD being used to treat sleep disorders, anxiety, and a variety of other ailments.
Perhaps you use it yourself. Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, is becoming increasingly popular. CBD is being used to treat pain, as a smoking cessation aid, to alleviate anxiety, and to improve sleep.
I wrote earlier this year about the very promising research that shows CBD has a wide range of therapeutic benefits, from treating epilepsy and addiction to potentially fighting cancer and improving sleep.
Today, I’ll discuss another compound derived from the cannabis plant that you may not be familiar with…yet. In comparison to CBD, it is still relatively unknown. However, this may not be the case for long. I’m referring to cannabinol, or CBN Isolate Bulk.
This cannabis-derived compound may have sleep benefits, as well as other health and disease treatment benefits. Ready to go under the radar and learn more about a natural plant compound that has the potential to be a game changer as a natural sleep therapy?
What exactly is CBN?
CBN, like CBD, is classified as a cannabinoid. This is a chemical found in the cannabis plant. According to a recent count, cannabis contains more than 100 different cannabinoids (at least that many that have been identified so far).
CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are the most well-known and researched cannabinoids. However, CBN Isolate Bulk was the first cannabinoid discovered by scientists. Scientists have been studying all three of these cannabinoids—CBN, CBD, and THC—for decades, both for their chemical composition and for their effects on humans.
CBN is produced naturally in the cannabis plant as it ages. This is because the cannabinoid THC converts to CBN over time and when heated or exposed to oxygen. CBN can also be synthesized from THC extracted from cannabis.
The distinctions between THC, CBD, and CBN
Different cannabinoids have distinct chemical properties and produce vastly different effects when consumed. For many people who are just learning about the therapeutic uses of cannabis compounds, it may appear that they are all the same thing—marijuana. That, however, is not the case. Because these various compounds are all found naturally in the plant, consuming cannabis exposes you to all of the plant’s cannabinoids, including THC, CBD, and CBN, as well as dozens of others.
However, CBD, THC, and CBN Isolate Bulk are also available as isolated extracts from the cannabis plant or as synthetic versions of these compounds. By extracting or creating the individual compounds, we can benefit from the properties of each cannabinoid individually, without being exposed to the effects of other cannabinoids.
People are sometimes skeptical of cannabis-derived supplements because they believe they all produce a mind-altering high. They are not. (For a refresher, I wrote about why CBD isn’t weed this spring.)
Let’s take a look at the various properties of these very different cannabinoids. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is a cannabinoid that is the primary psychoactive component of cannabis. What exactly does psychoactive mean? A psychoactive substance is one that temporarily alters one’s mood, consciousness, perception, and behavior by affecting brain function and mental state.
THC is the cannabis component responsible for the “high” associated with marijuana. Different strains of cannabis used in medical marijuana have varying levels of THC, resulting in varying degrees of psychoactive effects. THC is used to treat a variety of conditions, including nausea, loss of appetite, glaucoma, and pain.
CBD, unlike THC, has no psychoactive properties. CBD has no “high” or other mind-altering effects. On the contrary, CBD has calming properties on its own. That is one of the reasons it has been identified as a useful supplement for treating insomnia and other sleep issues.
Is CBN a psychoactive substance?
There is no definitive answer to this question at the moment. According to some studies, CBN is not psychoactive. According to other studies, Wholesale CBN Isolate has very mild psychoactive effects. CBN appears to have potentially powerful sedative effects (more on that later), which may explain at least some of the concerns about its psychoactive properties.
How does CBN function in the body?
Cannabinoids have numerous effects on the human body and mind. One method is to interact with our own endocannabinoid system. This system regulates a variety of physiological functions and responses in our bodies, including mood, pain perception, appetite, and cognitive functions. Cannabinoids also influence hormone and neurotransmitter activity, as well as cell activity throughout the body in various ways.
CBN Isolate Bulk interacts with the endocannabinoid system of the body, influencing the function of numerous hormones and neurotransmitters, which in turn influence mood, energy, cognition and focus, appetite, immune function, and pain.
CBN, which is chemically similar to CBD, has many of the same effects in the body, including pain relief, inflammation reduction, and improved sleep.
CBN’s potential sleep and health benefits
The research into CBN’s therapeutic benefits is still in its early stages. But things are heating up as people become more interested in the health benefits of cannabinoids and CBD’s popularity grows. Let’s look at some of the areas of health and disease treatment and prevention where preliminary scientific research suggests CBN could help.
CBN is used as a sedative. There are some indications that CBN is a strong sedative. CBN has been shown in animal studies to increase sleep time. According to some studies, the sedative effects of Wholesale CBN Isolate are enhanced when combined with THC. However, there is currently a lack of scientific research into CBN’s sleep-inducing properties. I’m hoping that more scientific studies on CBN’s sleep-promoting abilities will be conducted in the future.
CBN as an analgesic. According to research, CBN Isolate Bulk has analgesic (pain-relieving) properties in the body. Wholesale CBN Isolate appears to influence the activity of capsaicin-sensitive neurons. (As you may know, capsaicin is found in chili peppers and is an ingredient in many topical pain relievers.) These capsaicin-sensitive nerves play an important role in pain signaling and perception in the body.
CBN as an antibacterial. According to research, CBN has the ability to combat harmful bacteria. A 2008 study discovered CBN, one of several cannabinoids (including CBD), to be effective in treating MRSA, an antibiotic-resistant bacterial infection.
CBN has anti-inflammatory properties. CBN, like CBD, appears to have anti-inflammatory properties. Scientists are trying to figure out how the human endocannabinoid system affects the immune system. Cannabinoids, such as Wholesale CBN Isolate, are being studied for their potential therapeutic role in the treatment of inflammatory disease.
CBN as a stimulant of appetite CBN behaves very differently than CBD in this regard. While CBD appears to suppress appetite, CBN appears to stimulate it. This could make CBN a therapeutic option for people who struggle to maintain an appetite due to another illness, such as cancer, or its treatment.
CBN as a cancer treatment. There is also preliminary evidence that CBN may have direct cancer-fighting properties. Cannabinoids, including CBN, are being studied for their ability to slow or stop cancer cell growth and spread. CBN was discovered to be one of several cannabinoids that reduced tumor size in one type of lung cancer.
CBN is used to treat seizures. CBD has strong anti-convulsant properties, making it one of the most promising therapeutic uses for this cannabinoid. Wholesale CBN Isolate has been shown to function as an anticonvulsant, albeit in a weaker form than CBD and THC.
CBN is used to promote bone healing and growth. Cannabinoids, including CBN, have been shown in studies to stimulate the production of new bone cells by activating stem cells. There are also indications that CBN and other cannabinoids may be beneficial in healing fractured bone and reversing bone loss, making it a potential therapy for osteoporosis.
CBN as a glaucoma treatment. Several studies have shown that Wholesale CBN Isolate is one of several cannabinoids that appear to be effective as a treatment for glaucoma.
Some CBN supplement products are now available, but this cannabinoid has yet to be widely available in supplement form. Much more research is needed to understand how CBN affects the body and how it might be used as a safe, effective therapy for sleep disorders and other health conditions.
